We have permits!
Good news: the city of Mountain View issued all of our permits this morning!
A month ago, the city asked for significant revisions to our first set of permit applications. All work had to stop until the plans were revised and approved. In the interim, our house sat with no bathroom, no heat, and no roof. This set our timeline back by a full four weeks, although we were able to spend some of that time ordering parts.
Our attic, with daylight streaming through holes where the roof should be.
We now have permits in hand, and work has started again. The roof comes first because we're hurtling towards the rainy season. As you can see below, our contractor put sheathing up within hours of getting the permits.
The rear of the house now has new eaves and sheathing instead of "skylights."
We now have just enough time to finish the renovations before the baby comes, assuming he comes on time. Unfortunately, babies don't know or care much about permits or construction timelines. It's going to be close -- get your bets in now!
